"Was ist das gute, das gerechte Leben?" ist eine Standardfrage der antiken Philosophie. Die Antworten auf diese Frage nehmen sowohl zum individuellen Glück wie zur sozialen Erfüllung des Einzelnen Stellung und entwerfen damit jeweils zugleich eine Anthropologie des Glücks. Geklärt wird darüber oft auch die Rolle der Philosophie bei der Realisierung eines geglückten Lebens. Den Kern des Seminars bildet die Lektüre von Senecas beiden Werken "De otio" ("Über die Muße") und "De vita beata" ("Über das glückliche Leben"). Dabei werden zwei gegensätzliche Lösungsmodelle herausgearbeitet. Ergänzt werden diese Texte durch Auszüge aus Texten Platons, Aristoteles' und Augustinus'. Abschließend wird das Weiterwirken der beiden Lösungsmodelle "aktives Leben" vs. "kontemplatives Leben" im Mittelalter diskutiert.
Leistungsnachweis für B.A. umfasst Kurzreferate im Rahmen der Textarbeit sowie 2 Klausuren im Laufe des Seminars.
