Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, die Scheu vor mittelalterlichen Quellen zu verlieren, Quelleneditionen kennenzulernen und sich im Umgang mit beidem zu üben. Inhaltlicher Bezugspunkt wird der Ablass sein, ein Phänomen, das frömmigkeits- und mentalitätgeschichtliche, kirchenrechtliche, wirtschaftliche und politische Perspektiven eröffnet.

Den Vorgaben des Modulhandbuchs entsprechend erledigen die TeilnehmerInnen 3-5 kleinere Übungsaufgaben (etwa ein Sitzungsprotokoll, eine Transkription, eine Recherche, eine Textvorstellung, eine schriftliche Reflexion). Die Ergebnisse fließen in die Sitzungen ein und werden zu einem Mini-Portfolio zusammengestellt.
