230539 Media, Information, Presentation (S) (SoSe 2006)

Contents, comment

In this course we will focus on techniques for locating information and presenting it using different media. The aim of the course is to provide students in the early phase of their studies with a means of acquiring media skills which will be relevant both for study purposes and for the world of work.

There will be three basic blocks:

1. How and where can information be located given a topic? Is the information source trustworthy?

2. How can this information be organised?

3. How can this be presented in different situations, i.e. classroom presentations, papers, talks, etc., using different media for presentation purposes.

Though the practical side of this will be the major focus, including the creation of slide presentations with electronic applications, more general issues involved in making presentations and different presentation styles will be covered as well.
