In this study group, we will explore the culture and language varieties of the English speaking population in the world by talking about cultural productions (e.g. series, movies, songs, media figures, vlogs, etc.)
We will become more familiar with different accents/dialects in various regions (e.g., Standard British English, Scouse English, Scottish Englishes, NYC English, Gen-Am and other less mainstream accents) in order to broaden our knowledge about linguistic differences around the world, drawing, for example, on the Bielefeld University library’s online resources on Accents and Dialects.
