Die zehn Bücher ‘De architectura’ des Vitruv (verfaßt in den ersten Jahren des Prinzipats) stellen die einzige umfangreiche Schrift über Architektur dar, die sich aus der Antike erhalten hat. Zugleich äußert sich kein anderer römischer Autor so eingehend zu verschiedenen Aspekten, die es bei der Gründung einer Stadt zu beachten gilt. Unser Seminar wird sich mit den einschlägigen urbanistischen Passagen aus dem ersten, zweiten, fünften und zehnten Buch des vitruvischen Traktats beschäftigen.
