220105 Theorien in der Geschichtswissenschaft am Beispiel der Historiographie über den Ersten Weltkrieg (GST) (SoSe 2008)

In der Geschichtswissenschaft scheidet der Erste Weltkrieg das 19. Jahrhundert vom 20., er markiert den "Anfang vom Ende des bürgerlichen Zeitalters" (W. Mommsen), er setzt den Auftakt zum "Zeitalter der Extreme" (Hobsbawm) bzw. zum "zweiten Dreißigjährigen Krieg" (Wehler). Die epochale Bedeutung, die diesem Ereignis zugewiesen wird, spiegelt sich auch in seiner anhaltenden Bearbeitung. Neue historische Theorien erproben ihre Wirksamkeit an diesem Thema. Am Beispiel politikgeschichtlicher, sozialgeschichtlicher, alltags-, geschlechter- und kulturgeschichtlicher Untersuchungen über den Ersten Weltkrieg sollen die genannten Forschungsansätze vorgestellt werden. Ziel des Grundseminars ist es, die Analysekraft und Reichweite dieser Theorien erkennen und bewerten zu können.
