Die Übung wird in anhand des Politikfeldes der ‚Inneren Sicherheit’ in grundlegende Konzepte der Public Policy Forschung einführen. Es ist ratsam, diese Übung in Kombination mit der Vorlesung „Einführung Public Policy“ zu besuchen. Die explorative Anwendung von Konzepten der Politikfeldanalyse erfolgt im Hinblick auf aktuelle Fragen der Sicherheitspolitik, etwa des Wandels zu einer Präventionspolitik, zu den Konjunkturen der Gefahrenthematisierung und der Privatisierung von Sicherheit. Von besonderer Bedeutung wird die Europäisierung der Politik der Inneren Sicherheit sein.
