Der Strukturalismus hat den Merkmalen eine zentrale Rolle bei der Ausdifferenzierung linguistischer Einheiten gegeben.
Ursprünglich für die Phonologie entworfen, setzen sich die Merkmale zunehmend in der Morphologie und der Syntax und
schließlich auch in der Semantik durch. Dabei hat sich allerdings auch die Rolle und die Struktur der Merkmale gewandelt.
Es ist zwar unbestritten, dass Merkmale eine zentrale Roll spielen, aber es ist immer unklarer geworden, welche das sein
kann. In diesem Seminar soll es um die verschiedenen Ansätze zur Struktur von Merkmalen gehen und um ihre Rolle in
verschiedenen Theorien.
