401531 BHC53 Praxisprojekt Gesundheitsberichterstattung: "Learning about LGBTQ+ Health through Oral History" (Pj) (WiSe 2018/2019)

Contents, comment

Students of the Bachelor of Science degree program take part in practical exercises every winter semester. Within the framework of these courses, they complete projects (based on evidence) on a health subject and present their results in various media formats. As part of their research, the students also conduct interviews and visit organizations.
The proposed course focuses on a practice project on the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer plus) health, which is an internationally growing field of study.
During the course, representatives of the migrant, refugee and mainstream LGBTQ+ organizations will be invited to talk about their healthcare experiences in Germany as well as countries of origin.
The proposed course also hopes to introduce the global and international aspects of LGBTQ+ health through inviting LGBTQ+ individuals from a number of countries of origin and familiarize students with the practice of collecting data and/or providing services with the aid of interpreters.
