Hip-Hop ist eine der global erfolgreichsten Musikrichtungen. Auch im deutschsprachigen Raum ist Rap längst eines der populärsten Genres. In der Literaturwissenschaft hat es in den letzten Jahren immer wieder interessante Versuche gegeben, deutschsprachige Rap-Lyrics mit dem Instrumentarium der Lyrikanalyse zu beschreiben. Das Seminar wird diese Versuche diskutieren, seinen Fokus aber nicht auf die Analyse einer Reihe von Rapsongs verengen. Im Zentrum wird vielmehr der Versuch stehen, die Entwicklung des Deutschrap seit den 1980er-Jahren als Teil einer übergreifenden deutschen Literatur- und Kulturgeschichte zu begreifen.
