Die Ethnomethodologie beschreibt Sinn als das Produkt situierter Handlungen, also als etwas, das von ‚kompetenten Mitgliedern’ einer Gesellschaft (interaktiv) stets wieder neu hergestellt wird. Aus dieser Grundannahme nimmt sie weder ihre Mutterdisziplin, die Soziologie, noch andere Formen der Wissenschaft aus. In diesem Seminar sollen die Grundgedanken der Ethnomethodologie vermittelt und anschließend der Frage nachgegangen werden, welche Implikationen diese für das Wissenschaftsverständnis haben: wie gehen wir mit wissenschaftlichen Ergebnissen um? Was kann Wissenschaft aussagen? Welche Form von – empirischer – Wissenschaft können wir selbst betreiben? Dafür sollen exemplarisch Studien betrachtet werden, die sich ethnomethodologischen Grundannahmen verpflichten.

Für die aktive Teilnahme ist die Lektüre der Seminarliteratur sowie die Bearbeitung kurzer darauf bezogener Aufgaben erforderlich. Leistungspunkte können über das Abfassen einer Hausarbeit erworben werden. Literatur wird zu Seminarbeginn bekannt gegeben.
