Nach einer Einführung in die Stadien der Menschheitsgeschichte und in die Geomorphologie der Eiszeiten in Afrika und Europa sollen die einzelnen Kulturepochen der Steinzeiten (Paläolithikum, Mesolithikum, Neolithikum) in Europa besprochen werden. Ein wesentliches Schwergewicht der Veranstaltung liegt auf der Vermittlung von kunsthandwerklichen und technischen Fertigkeiten, die unsere Vorfahren besaßen und angewendet haben. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt liegt in der Diskussion über die Methodik und Didaktik des Themas ¿Steinzeit¿ in Schulen und Museen; angestrebt ist, einige praktische Übungen, die in der späteren Schulpraxis hilfreich sein können, in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Archäologischen Freilichtmuseum in Oerlinghausen durchzuführen (mögliche Themen: Feuer, Steinbearbeitung, steinzeitliche Ernährung, keramische und textile Techniken).
