230612 "Daddy changed the world”- on the legend George Floyd and the rise of the BLM movement (Stud.AG) (WiSe 2020/2021)

Contents, comment

In this student-led study group, we will be focusing on the murder of George Floyd and its aftermath. We will consider its significance and the significance of the Black Lives Matter movement for the African-American community in the USA and for the country at large, as well as the global impact of the movement. The analytical framework for our discussions will come primarily from Critical Race Theory, which we will also be engaging with.

As this is a student-led study group and not a seminar, all the participants can and should help to shape the programme we will follow, and everyone will be expected to contribute by leading sessions, writing minutes of the sessions, doing research, suggesting material and participating actively in the discussions.
