Der pflanzenökologische KursteiI beginnt mit der Bestimmung ausgewählter Pflanzenarten, an die sich eine Exkursion mit u.a. bodenkundlichen Inhalten anschließt. Dann werden Laborexperimente zur Stressanpassung von Pflanzen durchgeführt, in denen auch in statistische Analysemethoden eingeführt wird. Schließlich ist eine Talkrunde mit externen Vertretern aus unterschiedlichen ökologierelevanten Berufsfeldern geplant. Im Bereich Tierökologie werden ökologische Themen aus den drei Bereichen "Wasser, Luft, Boden" behandelt. In der aquatischen Ökologie (5 Termine) werden Süßwasserorganismen bestimmt und ihre Eignung (= orientierende Praxisstudie) als Indikatororganismen getestet. Versuche zum Nahrungsnetz werden im Becherglas und in Regentonnen durchgeführt, um einen Einblick in die Interaktionen zwischen verschiedenen Organismen zu erhalten. Hierbei werden auch die grundlegenden Methoden zur Erfassung wichtiger abiotischer und biotischer Parameter vermittelt.
