In Deutschland gehen täglich weit mehr als 10 Millionen Menschen in die Schule. Das Schulsystem hat sich in allen modernen Gesellschaften zur größten sozialen Institution entwickelt - und auch zur teuersten.
Warum hält sich unsere Gesellschaft eine solch komplexe und kostenträchtige Einrichtung? Welche Funktionen (die offiziellen und die verdeckten) erfüllt ein solches System? Aber auch: Welche Versprechungen werden gemacht, ohne dass das Schulsystem diese einlöst?
Wer so fragt, verrfolgt keine didaktische, auch keine erzieherische, sondern eine schultheoretische Perspektive. Das Seminar führt anhand unterschiedlicher Texte in diese Perspektive ein.
