230117 Cultural Theory (S) (SoSe 2018)

Contents, comment

The aim of this course is to introduce students to a selection of major theories, models and methods of cultural analysis. We will analyse how the term "culture" has been defined, and look at some of the most influential approaches developed over the past decades. Assuming that every theory is only as good as the potential of application it yields, we will attempt to put the approaches to use in concrete cultural analyses.
