The Lecture on Ambient Interfaces will introduce concepts, technologies and applications of Ambient Intelligence. Starting with a basic introduction and definition of the research field we will discuss social, ethical and economic implications of ambient Intelligence. This is followed by an excursion into tightly related neighboring fields such as Smart homes, Physical Computing, Sustainable Computing, Ambient Information systems, Auditory Displays and Sonification, which all provide important impulses for ambient interfaces. We review and discuss practical aspects of ambient interfaces, particularly concerning the practical implementation and how to evaluate systems.
The module 39-Inf-AIAI offers an introduction to basic methods of Ambient Intelligence, Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing, Augmented Reality and Physical Computing, with focus on techniques for data perceptualization and sonification for smart environments. Depending on the course, the focus is more on Auditory Displays or Ambient Intelligence. The module conveys the foundations of sensor- and display technologies for Ambient Intelligence systems and presents various examples for novel ways to represent and interact with data. The module qualifies participants particularly for Basic Project Intelligent Systems with focus on Ambient Intelligence.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
