Die Vorlesung führt in die Methoden, Fragestellungen und Konzepte der vergleichenden Politikwissenschaft ein. Dabei werden Regierungssysteme, Wohlfahrtsstaatstypen und Kapitalismusmodelle ebenso im internationalen Vergleich vorgestellt wie komparative Public Policy Analyse.
Die Vorlesung zielt darauf ab, die methodische wie thematische Spannweite der Vergleichenden Politikwissenschaft systematisch zu entfalten. Dabei werden auch Strukturen und Akteurskonstellationen des Politischen Systems der Bundesrepublik Deutschland im europäischen Vergleich exemplarisch vertieft.
