Eine wichtige Metapher des Spracherwerbs ist die Mapping-Metapher. Dieser Metapher nach wird ein Wort auf ein Objekt bezogen. Im Seminar wird erarbeitet, dass das Objektwissen bereits bei der frühen perzeptuellen Wahrnehmung eine Rolle spielt und fließt in den Prozess des Spracherwerbs ein. Die Sitzungen des Seminars basieren auf Studien aus der Literaturliste, die von den Studierenden vorbereitet werden. Während einer Sitzung wird das jeweilige Studiendesign nachgespielt und auf diese Weise transparent gemacht. Die Studierenden lernen, methodes Vorgehen systematisch zu betrachten und Forschungsinhalte (aus den Studien) argumentativ darzustellen.
