Männlichkeit und Weiblichkeit, Mannsein und Frausein sind nicht etwas von ‚Natur’ aus Gegebenes, sondern etwas gesellschaftlich Gewordenes. In dieser Annahme stimmen alle Theorien der Sozialisation im Unterschied etwa zu biologistisch-deterministischen Auffassungen psychischer und
sozialer Geschlechtsunterschiede überein. In dem Seminar soll dem sozialisatorischen Geschehen in Kindheit und Jugend nachgegangen und danach gefragt werden, wie Geschlecht sich in Körper und Köpfe einschreibt. Wie kommt es zu der kognitiven und affektiven Selbstverständlichkeit von
Geschlecht? Wie wird Geschlecht ‚gelernt’? Was ist ‚Geschlechtsidentität’? Diese Fragen werden vergleichend aus verschiedenen theoretischen Blickwinkeln (Lerntheorien, Kognitionspsychologie, Symbolischer Interaktionismus/ Sozialkonstruktivismus, Analytische Sozialpsychologie) betrachtet.
