Skeptische Argumente gehören zum Grundbestand der neuzeitlichen philosophischen Tradition. Gibt es eine unabhängig von uns existierende Außenwelt? Können wir je sicheres Wissen erlangen? Und wie beziehen wir uns, falls überhaupt, bedeutungsvoll auf eine äußere Wirklichkeit? Derartige Fragen berühren Grundthemen der Erkenntnis- und Bedeutungstheorie. Berühmt wurden Descartes' methodischer Zweifel und Putnams Betrachtung über Gehirne im Tank. Im Seminar sollen vor allem ausgewählte jüngere Klassikertexte skeptischer und anti-skeptischer Argumentlinien behandelt werden.
Eine Leistungsbescheinigung (BA-Studiengang) wird ausgestellt für die im Rahmen der Veranstaltung angefertigten (insgesamt vier) schriftlichen Arbeiten.

Gründlich vorbereitete Teilnahme an jeder Sitzung des Semesters und genaue Einhaltung der Abgabetermine für die schriftlichen Arbeiten.
