230610 Academic Writing: Planning and Writing B.A./M.A. Theses (S) (WiSe 2016/2017)

Contents, comment

This class is aimed particularly at those students who are going to write their final thesis in the near future. You may participate in this class, no matter whether or not you are a Lehramtsstudent*in. Although individual thematic instruction is excluded, the class will guide you from the preliminary to the final stages of academic text composition: How to structure your thesis (complexity issues), how to organize your argumentation (e.g., aligning research literature with your own ideas, incl. how to avoid plagiarism), how to comply with formal standards (different citation styles), etc. You will also be given the opportunity to present your project to your fellow students and enter a dialogue with them on method and form – something that proves very helpful during the composition process.
