230628 Practical Forum: Cultures in Process (S) (WiSe 2006/2007)

Contents, comment

In this forum students will be introduced to and will participate in the planning and organisation of an academic conference. To develop the students' practical and professional skills in an academic context, we will first create a general overview of the tasks involved in the professional work of a university scholar. We will then focus on the various components the organisation process of an academic conference comprises (development of conference programme, funding, marketing, communication with participants, editing of proceedings, etc.). Students will apply this knowledge by planning and participating in the organisation of a conference which has the aim of developing the thematic focus of the Bielefeld Master of Arts British and American Studies: "Encounter and Experience: Cultures in Process" in March 2007. The assignments of the different student task groups that will be established and their fulfilment will be discussed and monitored in the forum.

Please note that attendance of this course is possible only in conjunction with the Colloquium Cultures in Process.
