Paulus ist wahrscheinlich derjenige Verfasser neutestamentlicher Schriften, über dessen Person wir am besten unterrichtet sind. Seine theologischen Gedankengänge werden von ihm zumeist mit seiner jeweiligen Lebenssituation unmittelbar verbunden. Die Vorlesung hat deshalb zum einen das Ziel, wichtige Stationen seines Lebens und die damit verbundenen Problemstellungen aufzuzeigen. Zum anderen sollen die daraufhin entwickelten theologischen Konzeptionen des Paulus untersucht werden. Die Veranstaltung beginnt mit einer Rekonstruktion der Biographie des Paulus und nimmt von dort ausgehend zentrale Themen der paulinischen Theologie in den Blick.
