This course will discuss major and some of the minor poets of the Victorian Age. From the often melancholic poetry of Alfred Tennyson to Robert Browning's verse of vitality through to the aesthetic art of the fin de siècle poets. We will look at themes and subject matters such as nature, art, myth, religion, gender, death, love and nature, and at different poetic styles and techniques.
The texts will be available in the electronic Lernraum. All texts must be read and prepared by the beginning of the seminar.
