This seminar will introduce first-year students to the basics of literary studies – the tools of the trade, as it were. Participants will be taught the terms and methods of analysis and interpretation of texts in the three main literary genres, poetry, drama and narrative. The course material will be made available in the Lernraum.
Students are strongly urged to make time for the corresponding tutorial, which offers support in the organization of studies, practices strategies of research and the formal requirements of academic work and repeats material presented in class.
Please note that the first session of this seminar takes place on 25 April because the first week of term is reserved for the "How to English" week to which you are cordially invited (you will receive an announcement and programme toward the start of the semester).
It is recommended that you have completed the course Writing (BM 1) before taking this class.
