Sie wird bilingual abgehalten, so dass einige Vorlesungen auf deutsch und einige auf Englisch gehalten werden, so dass TeilnehmerInnen auch Englisch als Wissenschaftssprache näher kennenlernen. Wesentliche Konzepte der Naturschutzbiologie werden vorgestellt und ihre Anwendung im Naturschutz erläutert. Von der Biodiversität in Raum und Zeit über die genetischen Probleme kleiner Populationen bis zu nachhaltiger Fischerei, die Bandbreite der Themen der Vorlesungsreihe ist groß. Hierbei liegt der Fokus nicht so sehr auf lokalem Management, sonder die Vorlesung wird auf die großen globalen Probleme aufmerksam machen und Lösungsansätze aufzeigen. Zum Ende der Reihe ist aber auch ein Besuch einer Biologischen Station geplant, um die lokale Dimension nicht ganz aus den Augen zu verlieren. Studenten können durch regelmäßige Teilnahme und aktive Partizipation in Diskussionen 2 Leistungspunkte (Credit Points) erwerben.
