300190 The Economics of Biodiversity - The Dasgupta Review (S) (WiSe 2021/2022)

Contents, comment

In recent decades we have been degrading our most precious asset, namely nature, at rates far greater than ever before and to a point where the demands we make of its goods and services far exceed its ability to meet them on a sustainable basis. At least some sociologists have shown concern about this, but it was mostly economists that have come up with theoretically derived proposals to face this challenge on an institutional basis. The most prominent account on the current crisis and some of the possible ways to handle it is the Dasgupta Review published this spring. In this seminar we will read and discuss section from this book, which is available online for free.
