Das BPS-Seminar knüpft konzeptionell an das Forschende Lernen an. Anliegen des Seminars ist die Entwicklung und Stärkung einer wissenschaftlichen Grundhaltung bezogen auf das Handlungsfeld Schule. Im Zentrum des Seminars stehen Distanz und Reflexion sowie kritische Analyse und Diskussion etablierter Überzeugungen und Vorstellungen über Schule und Unterricht, Lehren und Lernen.
Dazu werden exemplarisch das Verhalten und Handeln von Lernenden in Schule und Unterricht beobachtet, analysiert und diskutiert sowie an sachunterrichtsdidaktische Anliegen und Perspektiven rückgebunden. Forschungsmethodisch orientiert sich das Seminar an ethnographischen Zugängen und Analyseverfahren der empirischen qualitativen Sozialforschung.
