The seminar engages in the global Covid-19 pandemic and its socio-economic effects in selected countries. We will analyze how global economic markets, mobility of capital and workforce and production networks have been changed over the curse of the pandemic. We will further look at particular state responses to the pandemic and their impacts on economies, labour markets and the sphere of social reproduction. In which way have lock-down polices amplified social inequalities within and between countries? Which groups have been suffering most from the pandemic? In which way will post-pandemic policies lead to changes? To answer these questions we will look at both, empirical studies and theoretical analyses from different countries and regions.
The seminar takes place in two blocks of two days (20./21.January and 10./11. February 2022). Detailed information on the organization will be presented and discussed in a preliminary session on October 27th, 2021.
