230562 Um 1800: Langeweile in der Literatur (S) (SoSe 2025)

Langeweile, Müßiggang und "ennui" avancieren - insbesondere mit der romantischen Literatur - zu einem auffälligen Topos in der Literatur sowie Kulturtheorie um 1800. In diesem Seminar werden wir uns vor diesem Hintergrund mit der Frage auseinandersetzen, weshalb an Langeweile leidende Figuren die Literatur des (frühen) 19. Jahrhunderts bevölkern, wie sich diese Grundstimmung von benachbarten Phänomen wie etwa der Melancholie abgrenzen lässt und welche literarästhetischen Mittel bei der Langeweiledarstellung zum Einsatz kommen. Daneben gilt es, Positionen zur Langeweile u. a. aus der Aufklärungspsychologie und der Erfahrungsseelenkunde des ausgehenden 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts kennenzulernen.
Hinweis: Wegen des hohen Arbeitsaufwandes empfehlen wir dringend, das Modul in zwei Semestern zu studieren.
