Die Veranstaltung gibt eine Einführung in die Analyse und Prognose regionaldemographischer Prozesse. Im Vordergrund stehen die Ursachen und Muster regionaler Unterschiede hinsichtlich der drei demographischen Prozesse Fertilität, Mortalität und Migration, und die Konsequenzen hinsichtlich regionaler Wachstumsprozesse sowie für die demographische Alterung und die Bevölkerungsverteilung. Die behandelten bevölkerungsstatistischen Methoden werden anhand aktueller empirischer Beispiele verdeutlicht. In diesem Zusammenhang wird die Bedeutung der Binnenmigration, z.B. von Suburbanisierungsprozessen, besonders herausgestellt.
