392025 Information Visualization in den Medienwissenschaften (V) (SoSe 2024)

Die Vorlesung ist ausschließlich für Studierende der Medienwissenschaften konzipiert und es können auch nur Studierende der Medienwissenschaften erfolgreich Leistungen erbringen.

In der Vorlesung werden ausgewählte und auf die Medienwissenschaften zugeschnittene Themen der Visualisierung abstrahierter Daten (engl „Information Visualization“) behandelt. Nach einer Einleitung und einem kurzen historischen Überblick für die Visualisierung wird ein einfaches Modell der visuellen Kognition vermittelt. Darauf aufbauend werden unterschiedliche Visualisierungsparameter (z.B. Farbe, Form, Größe, 3D, Textur) und -methoden (z.B. Scatter Plots, Parallel Coordinates, Object Displays) vorgestellt.
