Competencies

In diesem Modul werden die Grundlagen theoretischer (mathematische) Modelle behandelt (Lotka-Volterra, Tilman) und Methoden gelernt, die Voraussetzung sind, um den Energiefluss und Regulationsmechanismen in einem Nahrungsnetz zu interpretieren. Das Erlernen taxonomischer, chemischer und biologischer Methoden ist Ziel dieses Moduls. An Hand dieser Versuche soll die Methodik der Planung und Durchführung von Experimenten sowie die statistische Datenauswertung erlernt werden. Die Fähigkeit zur Vermittlung wissenschaftlicher Inhalte soll durch die Erstellung von Protokollen, von Postern und/oder Abschlussvorträgen dargestellt werden.

Content of teaching

In diesem Modul werden verschiedene grundlegende Methoden und Konzepte erlernt, um die Rolle der Organismen im aquatischen Nahrungsnetz zu verstehen. Durch die quantitative Untersuchung der Organismengruppen (z.B. Zooplankton und Algen, Meiobenthos und Makrobenthos) und der qualitativen Auswertung einer ausgewählten Organismengruppe geben wir einen Einblick in die Regulation (bottom up vs top down) des Nahrungsnetzes. Ausgewählte Manipulationsversuche in Mesokosmen sollen dazu dienen, bestehende Modelle zu überprüfen bzw. Möglichkeiten der Biomanipulationen kennen zu lernen. Darüber hinaus werden physikalisch-chemische Parameter erhoben, um die Bedeutung abiotischer Parameter abzuschätzen.

Notwendigkeit von zwei Modulteilprüfungen:
Das Portfolio (oder das Protokoll bzw. die Präsentation) dokumentiert den Ablauf der exemplarischen Versuche und interpretiert die erzielten Ergebnisse.
In der Klausur oder der mündlichen Prüfung wird dem gegenüber die Fähigkeit zur Verallgemeinerung und Einordnung in das Zusammenhangswissen geprüft.

Die erzielten Ergebnisse werden zudem als Präsentation in medialer Form veröffentlicht oder als Protokoll verschriftlicht.

In der Regel ist das Portfolio zu erbringen.
