Nach Abschluss des Moduls sind die Studierenden mit grundlegenden Konzepten von Natur- und Umweltschutz, inclusive ökologischen (Methoden und Konzepten), historischen, ethischen, politischen (Werte und Standards) und soziologischen (Gesetzgebung und Konflikte) Aspekten, vertraut. Sie sind in der Lage, Maßnahmen des Umweltschutzes und der Renaturierung in spezifischen Ökosystemen und Projekten zu bewerten.
Students know basic concepts of Nature Conservation and Environmental Protection, including ecological (methods and scientific concepts), historical, ethical and political (values and standards) and sociological (policy and conflicts) aspects. They are able to evaluate measures of conservation and restoration in specific ecosystems and projects.
Basierend auf einer Einführung in die Grundlagen und aktuellen Themen von Naturschutz in Deutschland, werden wesentliche Aspekte und Strategien von Naturschutz, Umweltschutz und Renaturierung während einer Exkursion in ein Schutzgebiet oder zu einem Schutzprojekt (z.B. Nationalpark Eifel, Hohes Venn) angesprochen.
Based on an introduction to the basics and current issues of nature conservation in Germany, focal points and strategies of Nature Conservation, Environmental Protection and Restoration are adressed during an excursion to a conservation area or project (e.g. National Park 'Eifel', Peatland 'High Fens').

Portfolio aus eigenständiger Versuchsvorbereitung, Versuchsdurchführung sowie Präsentation der Ergebnisse in einem Vortrag (10 bis 20 Minuten) sowie schriftliche Dokumentation und Reflexion der Versuche im Umfang von 10-20 Seiten.
The Portfolio comprises: independent preparation of the experiments, doing the experiments independently, presenting the results during a talk of 10 to 20 minutes, and writing a documentation of 10-20 pages.
Klausur (90 Minuten) oder mündliche Prüfung (20 Minuten). In der Regel ist die Klausur zu erbringen.
Written exam (90 minutes) or oral exam (20 minutes). As a rule, students have to take the written exam.
