Curriculum Vitae

MD Janina Soler Wenglein (she/her) is a specialist in paediatrics and adolescent medicine with an additional qualification in intensive care medicine. She works as a medical researcher at the Faculty of Medicine and studied human medicine in Halle (Saale), Lübeck and Hanover. After her studies, she completed her further training as a specialist in paediatric and adolescent medicine in Schleswig-Holstein. She gained her additional qualification in intensive care medicine at the University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (EvKB Bielefeld). She completed her doctorate at the University of Kiel under PD Dr van Baalen on febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome (FIRES) in the differential diagnosis of autoimmune encephalitis.

She combines her interest in intensive care and emergency medicine as well as infectiology, immunology and autoimmunity through her active membership and various activities in the medical-scientific societies German Society for Paediatric Infectiology (DGPI), Society for Neonatology and Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine (GNPI) and DIVI (German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine).

Her current research interests include the transfer of knowledge from theory to medical practice in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, as well as epidemiological questions on the burden of disease caused by viral infections in childhood.
