Contents of the subject Music

Diverse musical education
The degree programme offers comprehensive training in various musical disciplines, including singing, instrumental performance and music theory. Students can deepen and expand their skills in ensembles and in interdisciplinary projects ending dates, resulting in holistic musical competence.

Practice-orientated teaching methods
Practical experience in playing instruments at school and making music with groups ensures a high level of practical relevance. Students learn how to actively integrate different subject areas and teaching methods into music lessons.

Individual support
The small, active faculty enables close supervision by teaching staff. This personal support encourages intensive engagement with the course content and contributes to the targeted development of students' individual strengths.

Interdisciplinary projects
The close cooperation with the Department of Art and cultural institutions in the region opens up a wide range of opportunities for creative projects. Students can broaden their musical horizons and gain practical experience in art education.

High-quality career preparation
The degree programme not only imparts subject-specific skills, but also prepares students specifically for the demands of the teaching profession. Following the Bachelor's degree programme, the Master of Education leads to a teaching qualification, optimally preparing graduates for their professional career.
There are particularly good job prospects in primary schools, secondary schools, comprehensive schools, and elementary schools, as well as in integrated special education. There is also a high demand for teachers in STEM subjects (with the exception of biology). Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that you will be teaching this material for a long time. You should therefore be interested in what you teach and study subjects that you are passionate about.Considering the age of the students in the respective school types is also helpful when making this decision.

Access to the Bachelor programme is granted to those who have a university entrance qualification suitable for Germany (e. g. German ‘Abitur’).
