Contents of the subject Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Informatics
The importance of intelligent, cognitive systems is increasing in many areas of everyday life. Mobile service robots, personal assistants, highly automated production facilities, autonomous vehicles or intelligent support systems in medicine and care - all of this is made possible by modern information technology, whose information-processing processes are increasingly orientated towards the cognitive abilities of humans and animals. In this way, complex information (texts, images, spoken language) can be processed and the behaviour of machine systems can be flexibly adapted to different and novel situations. The Faculty of Technology at Bielefeld University offers a tailor-made Bachelor's degree programme in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Informatics that teaches practical skills and knowledge that enable students to contribute to the development and implementation of cognitive, information-processing systems. The degree programme closely combines the teaching of theories and methods of computer science and artificial intelligence with those of cognitive science and neuroscience. What are the access requirements?
Access to the Bachelor programme is granted to those who have a university entrance qualification suitable for Germany (e. g. German ‘Abitur’).
