Sociology deals with social structures in all kinds of subject areas: Students gain insights into subject areas such as economic sociology, gender sociology, media sociology, social structure analysis and organisational sociology. They acquire skills in researching and critically reflecting on the interrelationships and functioning of the social system. The ability to look at sociological issues from several perspectives, guided by theory and methods, is a central part of the degree programme, which makes graduates interesting for various professional fields. There are particularly good career prospects in areas where academic expertise, analytical thinking or administrative and management skills are required, such as marketing and market research, public relations, administration, associations, political parties, trade unions, human resources and media companies.
