Current research topics

My research focuses on translational pharmacology and pharmacogenetics. I am currently investigating molecular and genetic factors that contribute to the inter-individual variability of drug effects, particularly in relation to cardiovascular side effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Another focus of my research is the functional characterisation of genetic variants and the elucidation of disease-relevant molecular mechanisms. I use human genetic, molecular biological and biochemical approaches with a particular focus on multi-omics methods to investigate relationships between genetic variation, cellular processes and clinical phenotypes.

The long-term goal of my research is to link genetic variation with molecular mechanisms and clinical phenotypes in order to develop new approaches for personalised medicine.
