Richtig Einsteigen - Vermittlung literaler Kompetenzen
I studied English, European Studies and American Studies in Ankara, Berlin, Amherst, and Heidelberg. I completed my doctoral studies at Heidelberg University, where I wrote a dissertation on the motif of business in American fiction.
At Bielefeld University, I am a part of the "richtig einsteigen -- Vermittlung literaler Kompetenzen" project. In line with the project, I teach academic writing to students of British and American Studies and work with my colleagues to improve the quality of student writing.
Moreover, I coordinate the introductory days of the Faculty of Linguistics and Literary Studies and work as a member of the Committee on Academic Misconduct (Untersuchungskommission für wissenschaftliches Fehlverhalten).
My main areas of research are Composition Studies, multilingualism, text linguistics, and literary theory. Specifically, I am interested in questions such as "Why do we write the way we do?", "How do students react to writing guidelines?" and "How can we evaluate writing instruction effectively?"
