Birgit Lütje-Klose is Professor of School Inclusion and Special Education Professionalism at the Faculty of Educational Science at Bielefeld University. As a special needs teacher, she and her colleagues are responsible for the degree programme in integrated special needs education. She teaches and researches on issues of inclusive education and special needs education, with a particular focus on the special needs area of learning [Centre for teaching and learning].

- Multi-professional cooperation in inclusive schools
- Professionalisation of teachers for inclusive school and classroom development
- Well-being and social participation of pupils with and without special educational needs at inclusive and special schools
- Diagnostics and support planning for children with learning and developmental disabilities
