Die Vorlesung "Geschichte der romanischen Sprachen "bietet einen Überblick über die Diachronie der Romania von der Ausgangssprache Latein (und deren für die Ausdifferenzierung der romanischen Sprachen wesentlichen Varietäten) über frühromanische Idiome bis zur den heutigen Regional- und Nationalsprachen der Romania unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der hispanophonen und frankophonen Sprachräume. Die wesentlichen Aspekte der Ausgliederung und Evolution romanischer Sprachen werden an illustrierenden Textbeispielen aus den verschiedenen Epochen der romanischen Sprachgeschichte aufgezeigt, die exemplarisch auf unterschiedliche Fragestellungen der diachronen Sprachwissenschaft hin analysiert werden.
