This course on the evolution of animal behaviour mainly has three components. In the first introductory week the participants 1) give presentations of exemplary papers on the evolution of insect behaviour, 2) are on excursions introduced to the available insect species, and 3) get suggestions for small projects (for example on sexual selection, pollination ecology, plant-insect-interaction, or acoustic communication) they could work on. The second and third week, the participants work in small groups on the projects they have selected. In the final week, the received data are analysed and on the last day all participants give oral presentations of the projects. All participants have to write reports in the form of scientific publications. These reports have to be revised if not initially accepted and the grades will be given regarding the quality of the reports.
