Die Veranstaltung ermöglicht es den TeilnehmerInnen, sich mit den Themen Menschenrechte und Menschenrechtsbildung sowohl theoretisch als auch praktisch auseinander zu setzen. Als Grundlage erfolgt eine Einführung in die Menschenrechte und die Möglichkeiten des Menschenrechtsschutzes. Entlang der Dimensionen Bildung über Menschenrechte – Bildung durch Menschenrechte – Bildung für die Menschenrechte werden verschiedene Aspekte und Perspektiven der Menschenrechtsbildung beleuchtet. Die Studierenden erhalten die Gelegenheit, sich das Thema Menschenrechte und Menschenrechtsbildung mittels praktischer Übungen zu erschließen und diese hinsichtlich ihres Potentials für schulische und außerschulische Bildungskontexte kritisch zu reflektieren.
