In diesem Modul werden chemisch-ökologische Methoden zur Untersuchung von Wechselwirkungen in Ökosystemen erlernt. Arthropoden kommunizieren mit ihrer Umgebung überwiegend durch chemische Botenstoffe. Die Bedeutung von Fraßstimulantien und -deterrentien, Pheromonen, Allomonen und Kairomonen für Insekten wird beispielhaft demonstriert. Dazu werden verschiedene chemische Nachweismethoden erlernt und die Wirkung von Naturstoffen in Biotests überprüft. Statistische Methoden zur Auswertung von Biotests werden angewendet und die Ergebnisse in ökologischen Kontext gesetzt. Möglichkeiten der Manipulation von Organismen und Ökosystemen werden in Hinblick auf biologische Schädlingsbekämpfung diskutiert. Benotete Endklausur.
