Seit der Antike haben sich Philosoph*innen mit dem Phänomen der Emotionen auseinandergesetzt. Aristoteles ging es dabei beispielsweise um das angemessene Maß emotionaler Reaktionen, Descartes und Elisabeth von Böhmen beschäftigten sich mit dem Ursprung der „Leidenschaften“, sowie der Möglichkeit, diese rational zu kontrollieren. Aber auch in der zeitgenössischen Philosophie werfen Emotionen zahlreiche Fragen auf: Was genau sind Emotionen? Sind sie körperliche oder mentale Phänomene? Sind sie Überzeugungen, Urteile oder Wahrnehmungen? In welchem Zusammenhang stehen sie mit unseren Werten und rationalen Begründungen? Warum können sie z.B. gerechtfertigt oder ungerechtfertigt erscheinen? Und wie sollen wir mit ihnen als wesentlichem Bestandteil des menschlichen Lebens umgehen? Im Seminar sollen Texte aus der Philosophiegeschichte, aber vor allem auch zeitgenössische philosophische Texte gelesen werden, die versuchen, diese und andere Fragen in Bezug auf die Emotionen zu beantworten. Im Unterschied zu dem im WS 2018/19 angebotenen Einführungskurs zum Thema „Emotionen“ wird der Fokus neben den obenstehenden (Definitions-)fragen auf epistemisch und moralisch relevanten Aspekten von Emotionen liegen. Können wir mithilfe von Emotionen Wissen erlangen, das uns sonst nicht zugänglich wäre? Helfen uns Emotionen, das moralisch Richtige zu tun? Und sind sie der moralischen Charakterbildung zu- oder abträglich?

Die Bereitschaft zur Lektüre und Diskussion englischsprachiger Texte wird vorausgesetzt. Das Seminar wird wöchentlich online über Zoom stattfinden. Aufgrund von interaktiven Elementen ist die Teilnahme am Seminar nur mit Ton und Bild sinnvoll. Deswegen erwarte ich von allen Teilnehmer*innen, dass sie vor(!) Seminarbeginn die technischen und anderweitigen Voraussetzungen schaffen, um mit Audio- und Kamerafunktion am Seminar teilnehmen zu können. Der Zugriff auf Texte und Materialien erfolgt über den Lernraum.

Teilnehmerbegrenzung:
DIES IST EIN FACHWISSENSCHAFTLICHES MASTER-SEMINAR.
An diesem Seminar können insgesamt maximal 10 Bachelor- und Master of Education-Studierende teilnehmen. Für alle Studierenden, die regulär im fachw. Master Philosophie eingeschrieben sind, gilt keine Teilnehmerbegrenzung.
Diese Veranstaltung ist konzipiert für Masterstudierende im Fach Philosophie. Bachelor-Studierende der Philosophie oder andere Studierende können nur teilnehmen, wenn sie das Anmeldeverfahren durchlaufen und eine Zusage des Dozierenden bekommen haben. Zur Anmeldung senden Sie der Veranstalterin/dem Veranstalter eine E-Mail mit Angabe Ihres Namens, des Fachsemesters in dem Sie sein werden und mit einer Begründung, warum Sie an diesem Seminar teilnehmen wollen. Sie erhalten rechtzeitig Bescheid, ob Sie an der Veranstaltung teilnehmen dürfen.
