Was passiert, wenn sich jemand entscheidet, in seinem Leben einen radikalen persönlichen Wandel zu vollziehen: Einen anderen Glauben anzunehmen, das Geschlecht zu wechseln oder ein Kind zu bekommen? In jüngeren literarischen und philosophischen Texten werden die Verlaufsformen und Problemlagen derartiger transformativer Erfahrungen auf anspruchsvolle Weise dargestellt und diskutiert. Das Seminar wird sich der komparatistischen Erkundung dieser Texte widmen. Die Seminarteilnahme setzt die Bereitschaft voraus, literarische Erzählungen und philosophische Studien sowohl auf Deutsch als auch auf Englisch zu lesen.
