Flexibler Kapitalismus, Informationsgesellschaft, Industrie 4.0 – dies sind einige Zeit-Diagnosen zum Wandel der Arbeit(sgesellschaft). Sie sind Gegenstand des Seminars, das sich im Kern mit den Wandlungsdynamiken von Arbeits- und Produktionsverhältnissen, und deren strukturierender Kraft für gesellschaftliche Lebensverhältnisse beschäftigt. Hierzu werden der Übergang von der frühkapitalistischen zur industriellen Gesellschaft, und der Wandel innerhalb der Industriegesellschaft betrachtet, um dann vor diesem Hintergrund vor allem den jüngeren Strukturwandel hin zur Informations- und Wissensgesellschaft zu erörtern. Die zentralen Wandlungsprozesse lassen sich auf drei Ebenen beobachten: 1. auf der Ebene betrieblicher Organisation von Arbeits- und Produktionsformen, 2. auf der Ebene des Arbeitsmarktes, etwa in Form sektoraler Verschiebungen und 3. im Verhältnis von Arbeits- und Lebensweisen. In diesem Zusammenhang ist die institutionelle Einbettung des Wandels der Arbeitswelt in Arbeitsmarkt- und Sozialstaatspolitiken von Bedeutung. Dies wird daher auch ein Referenzpunkt der Seminardiskussion sein.
