220057 Technoscientific Fields in the 20th Century (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Contents, comment

In the twentieth century, science and technology experienced dramatic changes in their relationships. Industrial and governmental research supplemented traditional academic fields, and brought about new modes of interaction. New roles and ways of generating and disseminating scientific knowledge were a result of the two world wars as well as of colonialism and post-colonialism. In the seminar, we will gain an overview of the main trends during the 1900s. In addition, an introduction to key analytical concepts, including the notions of Technoscience and of the Knowledge Society, will be given.
